Robert A. Pearson

MANAGING PARTNER

Attorney Robert A. Pearson is a founding partner of Pearson & Mitchell LLC. Robert focuses primarily on issues involving personal injury, business formation, and civil litigation.  

A 2010 honors graduate of Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, LA, Robert was recognized as one of The National Black Lawyers’ Top 40 under 40 in 2016. Robert is a native of Baton Rouge, LA, where he attended Catholic High School, but has resided in New Orleans since 2010. He is also an honors graduate of Northwestern State University, receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice in 2006. 

Robert is committed to community service and education, and as such, he presently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Center for Resilience (formerly the New Orleans Therapeutic Day Program) in New Orleans, LA. He also serves as the Board Attorney for the Algiers Economic Development Foundation (AEDF). Previously, Robert served as the Director of Legal Services for the Louisiana Civil Justice Center (LCJC), which provided free legal services for low income families across the State of Louisiana. 

In addition to his legal career, Robert is an avid supporter of fostering a sense of achievement in our local youth through the participation in athletics. He currently works as the High School Basketball and Track Coach at Louise S. McGehee School in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Robert is admitted to practice in all Louisiana State Courts including the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, the Eastern and Western District of the United States District Court, and is an accredited attorney with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.  He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, American Bar Association, New Orleans Bar Association, and the Greater New Orleans Louis A. Martinet Legal Society.

J. Ashley Mitchell Carter

FOUNDING PARTNER

(1985-2019)

Ashley, a founding partner of Pearson & Mitchell, was selected as a Super Lawyers’ Rising Star for 2018-2019. The Rising Stars selection process takes into account peer recognition, professional achievement in legal practice, and other cogent factors. Ashley was a daughter, wife, expectant mother and a dear friend. Her life was memorialized in a tribute presented on the floor of the Louisiana Senate by Senator Karen Carter Peterson. To honor Ashley and commemorate her life, work and service, her family established a scholarship fund for deserving students of Southern University Law Center. This scholarship will be awarded to law students  who share and uphold the values that Ashley, a true lawyer leader, exhibited throughout her life and work.

Through this memorial scholarship, the family of J. Ashley Mitchell Carter remembers the spirit of headship, courage, and passion for her commitment to her community demonstrated by Ashley in a way that will promote the same qualities in others who will become attorneys of tomorrow. Davorah S. Johnson

PARALEGAL

Davorah joined Pearson and Mitchell in 2015 as a legal assistant serving primarily in the areas of personal injury, family law, estate planning and workers’ compensation.  Under the leadership of the firm’s attorneys she has been exposed to a wide range of legal areas and provides sound and reliable assistance to the attorneys in our firm.  Davorah is your first face-to-face contact and understands that every case deserves the time and attention that clients need to manage and navigate through the legal processes. Serving as a liaison between the attorney and client, she understands the importance of quality client service and superb case management. 

As a licensed real estate agent, she brings her 15 years of client management and customer service skills to help navigate through client care and case oversight. She understands the benefits of paying close attention to details and making sure your concerns are heard. Davorah also uses her years of retail management experience to work efficiently in an administrator role, from front desk duties to drafting pleadings, correspondence, and other legal documents, she is a proven leader and manager.  

Davorah is a loving and devoted mother whose her kids keeps her busy. A true soccer mom, she spends most of her evenings at basketball games, karate practice and piano lessons. Her passion is ministry, serving in various church activities and as an Elder. She loves ministering to youth and women and uses every platform given to remind others of the importance of showing compassion, spreading love and community involvement.
